1199 Hospital Workers Have Won Care For Our Children

Through the 1199SEIU Child Care Funds (CFC) our members have negotiated quality child care and youth programs for our families. These innovative programs help children throughout their whole lives—from just after birth, all the way to college, and at no-cost to us!

My children can go to sleep-away camp, and the union covers it in full…for both of my children, it’s from ages 9-15. They go and they have a great experience for three weeks.”

Members of 1199SEIU have fought for and won childcare benefits that include:

  • Safe & Affordable Childcare

Our union’s child care programs give us the peace of mind that comes with knowing that there is safe and dependable care for our children. Our fund also covers partial cost of day care, depending on income.

  • Youth Programs

Our members have also negotiated access to affordable after-school programs, summer and holiday camps and cultural arts programs for our children.

  • Educational and Workforce Programs

To prepare for the challenges ahead, we can negotiate in our contract the opportunity to offer 14 to 17 year-olds the chance to participate in classes, workshops and internships that help them determine their career path. Our fund also offers SAT and college prep, and scholarships for college.
